Ladies Love Lyrics: JT "Spaceship Coupe"

I am literally obsessed with Justin Timberlake's new cd "The 20/20 Experience." I haven't really listened to much else for weeks now. "Spaceship Coupe" has been a fave since first listen. That made it an obvious choice for my LLL posts. So here goes. Get into the sexiness that is this 7 minute track. Enjoy!!

"Hey, yeah, yeah
Hey, I wrote this song for you
Listen

[Verse 1]
Everybody's looking for the fliest thing to say (fliest thing to say)
But I just want to fly (fly away with you, you, you, you)
I don't want to be the one to alienate, yeah (alienate)
You see, I'm trying to find an alien in you (you, you, if it's cool, cool)

[Pre-Hook]
We can't take an airplane
Where we're going is way to high
Going where the day sky turns into night
I got the windows special tinted for the stars that get too bright
And I saved you a seat, so let's ride

[Hook]
Hop into my spaceship coupe
There's only room for two (Me and you)
And with the top down
We'll cruise around
Land and make love on the moon
Would you like that?

Hop into my spaceship coupe
There's only room for two (Me and you)
And with the top of you wrapped up
In my space lover cocoon.

And I love it when I hear you say
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Sing to me

I love it when I hear you say
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Sing to me

[Verse 2]
Now everybody knows that you're from outer space (outer space)
But Honey, I just want to turn out this space with you (you, you, you, you)
So drive me to your galaxy where I could play, yeah (that milky way)
And sugar I'll take my time
And show you the backseat view, view, if it's cool, cool

[Pre-Hook]

[Hook]

Now break it down

Hey...
This is the part
Where you and me and all of the stars collide tonight
This is the part
We take off
And then we fly far away, far away, far away

[Hook]

Baby, can't you see all the stars?
They shine, they shine
Just for you
I said oh, yeah, yeah
Just hop into my spaceship coupe
I saved a seat for you
Right here next to me
I'm going to take you to the moon
And I'm going to make you say

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

I love it when I hear you say
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

And you love it when I make you say
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Baby this is the part
Where you and me and all of the stars collide tonight
This is the part
Where we take off
And then we fly far away, far away, far away..."

Role Call

  • Black woman.
  • Daughter.
  • Sister.
  • Cousin.
  • Friend.
  • Girlfriend.
  • Lover.
  • Neighbor.
  • Coworker.

These are all titles which define our roles in life. We all get very comfortable in the roles we are assigned. Sometimes way too comfortable. But, what do you do when those roles don't belong to you anymore. When you're no longer someone's daughter or friend or lover. How do you reorganize your life? If you're anything like me, you have a tough time with this sort of change. When one person leaves and takes your assigned role with them, it causes your life to spin into disarray. It's hard to catch your footing again while trying to redefine who you are again. I still do not know what the appropriate way to do this is. Things change constantly in life. Learning how to change with it cannot always be an easy task.

We need people to fit into this perfect little niches that we created for them. We include them in our world because of what they make us feel. For the most part, that feeling is love. If I let you in, it's a big deal. I am counting on you staying in my life. And, if/when that person leaves for whatever reasons, it always feels really personal. I miss them for way to long. I could never ascribe that particular role to another. It will always belong to the one who left. I'm weird that way. My words matter. I wish I knew the right way to deal with these changes. But, I have failed miserably at trying to figure it out. So, I come here and blog about it for the world to see. With the notion that maybe there is someone out there who has a different course of action that I can take. Sometimes we take people for granted. Sometimes we don't tell them enough how much they matter in our worlds. And, by the time we remember to do so, they are gone. So, this is my way of telling my people that I love each and every one of them. I value their existence in my life even when I don't show it. That's a role they will always play in my life and in my heart.

Food For Thought: Love

This question was posted on Tumblr by Arsenicandgoldlace a few hours ago. It instantly caught my eye. This question had my mind racing because I had two different answers. I do not believe that love cancels out a person's ability to hurt someone they love. I've had family/friends/lovers hurt me. Their love for me didn't stop them from doing so. They hurt me. And, I am guilty of the same. Of hurting the ones I love. It was never intentional, But, we've all done it. It is something that none of us can live without. And, even when we've been hurt by love, torn apart by it, or crushed by it, it is still the most essential emotions that humans can exert. I love love. Even where I am right at this moment, I can say that and know that its true. It's that important, that deep. I've always said that I cannot define love with words but I know it when I feel it. It is an emotion that is undeniable and unlike anything I've ever felt. Lace and I had a back and forth dialogue about the topic. I posted it below. It is always interesting to hear others view on love and relations.

I stand by my words. We give so much power to the ones we love. We give it to them in hopes that they will cradle our love and hearts. We hope and pray that they never hurt us and vice versa. Love in any and all forms can be tricky. When you love anyone, you are carrying that person's heart in your hands. It is so easy to fumble with it when you aren't paying attention. I know I have to be better about the things I do and say. I just wish others in my life would acknowledge that as well. I put up a good tough girl front. But, I hurt, I cry, I feel pain. I actually think that I am more sensitive than most realize because of my strong exterior. That's partly my fault. We all need to be more careful with the ones we love because life is indeed short. We should tell the ones we love that we love them while they are here. I would love to hear from others on this topic. Let's dish. What's your take on it?

*Sidenote - This wedding cake is just DOPE. I had no other reason to use this pic other than I dug it*

Influenster Sugar n Spice Vox Box Review

Influenster is a great product review program. I am really glad that I am lucky enough to be a part of it. I have written about my other Vox Box experiences. The first time was last year. I could not wait to dive into the new Sugar n Spice Vox Box. I received it more than a week ago. I started using it that night. This Vox Box was full of things I was really interested in. Items like Vaseline's new Spray and Go lotion, Colgate's Optic White Regimen which includes a toothbrush, toothpaste and mouth wash, Nectresse sugar, Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Controlling Towelettes and belVita Breakfast biscuits. I took a week to try each and every product so I could give an informed review. And, that's what I will give below. Let's dish.

° Vaseline® Spray & Go Moisturizer - This is the product I was most excited about trying. The commercials were cute & I was intrigued. From the moment I received my Sugar n Spice Vox Box, I've been using the Spray & Go. It goes on quickly. It's easy to use. It covers me just like regular lotion. It's absorbed easily I to my skin. It's not oily or greasy. It smells incredible. And, the coverage lasts all day. I will definitely purchase this product again. I want to try the other scents.

° Colgate Optic White (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Mouthwash) - All three products are great. I love the taste and feel of the products. I am a convert when it comes to the toothbrush. My mouth and teeth always felt so clean after using. This regimen boasts a claim to whiten teeth in 5 days. I decided to take them up on it. I used the regimen twice a day for five days. My results were

° Nectresse - I didn't think this particular product was for me. I've never used a supplement. But, I was open to trying it. I am a tea drinker. So, I used Nectresse instead of honey for a week. I was very impressed with it. I didn't miss my honey at all. I haven't stopped using it.

° Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes - These towelettes are life savers. I love how clean and refreshed they male my face feel. I keep them in my purse. I've shared them with my friends. We all love them. They clean makeup, dirt and also keep the oil under control. I love the clean scent the towelettes have. I've never heard of this product but I will be buying some more soon.

° belVita Breakfast Biscuits - These are interesting. I ate them for breakfast a few days in a row. I was not very found of them. I think they are an acquired taste. I actually shared this with a family member who loved them. So, I guess its different strokes for different folks. Try them for yourselves and let me know.

(Disclaimer: "I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.")

Ladies Love Lyrics: BLACKgirl's "Where Did We Go Wrong?"

BLACKgirl was one of my favorite one hit wonder groups. Their debut cd "Treat U Right" was awesome. I still love it. I was writing and listening to an old mixed cd when this song came on. I literally stopped what I was doing to have a full on moment. This was my song. My high school BFF Shay and I played this cd out. We were total fans. So, I had to share a throwback with you guys. IF you've never heard this track before, get into it. If you have, reminisce with me. Enjoy!!

"Now is the time for us to say goodbye
You go your way and I'll go mine

Life must go on
which means I've got to carry on
but I wanna know Kenda
where did we go wrong?
Where did we go wrong?

I remember times you made me laugh
all the times you made me cry
you wiped the tears
the tears from my eyes
oh yes you did
God blessed us with love
from heaven up above
So won't you tell me now
where did we go wrong?

Oh, oh
Where, where did we go wrong

after all that we've been through?
Was it something that we did not do?
Tell me where did we go wrong?"

Rant: George Zimmerman, Get Your Brother

The above picture was posted on Twitter by George Zimmerman's brother. The picture on the right is the young man who killed a baby in a stroller while trying to rob the mother over the weekend. The picture on the left is Trayvon Martin, the kid who was killed by Zimmerman more than a year ago. Both are 17 year old Black kids. That is the only comparison I can make from a picture. It seems the Zimmerman family is intent on being douches for all eternity. Martin is no longer breathing because Zimmerman decided that he shouldn't be. Zimmerman is a murderer no matter how theis case is spun. He stalked a kid, he racially profiled a kid, he fought a kid, and he used his gun to kill a kid. Those are the only facts I need to know. The trial begins in June. Zimmerman deserves no less than life in prison for taking a life. He deserves to pay for his actions. He killed Trayvon. Point blank.

I cannot take anyone in the Zimmerman family seriously. People need to realize that just because someone is family is not a reason to stand behind their wrong actions. If you kill someone in cold blood, mother/brother/sister/child/spouse, I will not be leading the cavalry to your defense. Because you are guilty. You have to pay for your sins. This case has disgusted me for over a year. I simply cannot! Zimmerman's brother is not helping his brother's case. He is furthering the racist claims. He basically says that all young Black men are murderers and criminals. That is a horrible stereotype and racist. I need this guy to go far away. And, GZ to go to jail for decades. OR until he dies. Either works for me. And, I'm sure The Fulton/Martin family feels the same.

Around These E-Streets (V)

I am a voracious reader. Whether it is books, magazines or online, I am almost always reading something. I wanted to share so interesting things I ran across this last week or some on the web. Hope you guys enjoy it.

° Terrilynn Monette is STILL MISSING. It's been weeks. No trace of her has been found. Not her cell or her car or her purse. It's like she disappeared into thin air. This story hurts. Because she was abducted from my city, she's in my age group. I've seen her Mom on tv her night since she was reported missing. The not knowing has to be killing her family. There is more info here and here.

° The road to overturning the groundbreaking law that Roe v. Wade set is coming. Just last week in North Dakota, the Senate passed a law that outlaws abortion at all stages. You can read about that ridiculousness here. I really have no words other than this is stupid. I am pro-life for myself but always pro-choice for other women. It's our bodies and our choice. We do not need the government's input.

° Zerlina Maxwell has been speaking on the culture of rape in this country and teaching men how not to rape. Her argument is a good one. She was featured on Sean Hannity's Faux News show. You can read about her stand here.

° Adria Richards, a Black woman, was at a tech convention when she overheard some sexist and demeaning remarks. She took the guys pictures and tweeted about the situation. It led to one of those guys being fired. A few days later, Richards was publicly fired. Her employers fired her by way of Twitter and Facebook which was beyond unprofessional. Her story is here.

° The Stuebenville rape case had the world watching. I can say that I am not happy with the outcome. I think those two young men deserved harsher punishments. What I am more appalled with s the way the media has covered this crime. CNN reporters have basically coddled these young men. IT's ridiculous. Read more here.

° A lot has been said and written about Beyoncé's "Bow Down?I Been On" tracks. I am a fan and I like it. Maybe becase I am from the South and I know all about Htown's screw music. It has a def Houston hip-hop feel to it that I dig. She is an artist. This is her art to do what she please with. This article feels the same.

° One of the best players on the Baltimore RAvens team has left. His name is Ed Reed. He is now a Houston Texan after 11 seasons. He took out a full page ad to thank his fans. Read it here. I thought that was nice and dope.

Outside (My) Movie Box: Part 11

Since I was under the weather the last few days, I decided to check out some movies. There  are a bunch of movies that I have somehow missed. Saturday was movie day for me. I laid in bed with my tea and under my hand crocheted (by my Mom) blanket and set out to watch some good movies. I picked a few different genres and dug in. My "take care of me" Saturday was a rousing success. I picked great movies and I felt 100 times better. No more sick days for me! Let's discuss some movies.

"Limitless" stars Bradley Cooper and Robert Deniro both great actors in their own right. I am a fan of both which is why I had to see this film. The premise of the movie is about a super drug hat unlocks the other unused 80% of your brain. A person on NZT basically knows any and every thing. Bradley Cooper characters takes it and his life changes in seconds. What follows is an incredibly unprecedented rise to the top of the financial world. He takes the stock market by storm. He improves every avenue of his life. But, of course, none of this is without consequences. His life is threatened on multiple occasions and he goes through an ill withdrawal. I loved everything about it. Also, Robert Deniro's character was one of my favorites. He was a super savvy business man who surprised me more than once in the film. More than anything, I loved the ending of the movie. It was not what I was expecting at all. Pretty dope movie from beginning to end.

The second movie I watched was "Snow White and the Huntsmen" starring Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth. I wanted to see this simply for Charlize. I love her acting and she is gorgeous. I have always been a fan of the classic "Snow White" tale also. This movie is definitely an adult version of the children's fable. The movie was actually very different than I imagined it to be. And, that is a great thing. It was so good. Charlize was amazing as the eveil Stepmother/Queen. I like her playing the bad role. Chris Hemsworth was so good. I knew he would be though. I loved him as Thor in "The Avengers." I wasn't expecting much from the acting of Kristen Stewart and she did fairly better than I expected. The storyline was really good. The movie wasn't predictable which is always a great thing. A good movie that I will watch again. I cannot wait to the what the second part brings.

So, overall I am so glad that I decided to watch these movies yesterday. It made for a very interesting and entertaining Saturday. I mean, if you have to be one of the sick and shut in on a gorgeous Saturday in March, you might as well have good films to watch. If you haven't seen either of these, I would recommend that you do. Great way to spend a few hours.

    Just A Thought

Silence can be a double edged sword. It could be solace when you most need it or it could be deafening. I deal with this a lot. Sometimes I want nothing more than the solitude that silence affords me. Other times, I crave people and noise and anything that gets me out of my head. Silence is a gift when the world gets to be too much. But, it can also be the curse when you desire to hear something from someone. I was searching for quotes about silence and found a few that jumped out at me. Along with the picture above, they have been the underlying theme of my life today. It was even mentioned in my horoscope. So, I should've saw it coming. Anyway, just thought I would share all of this with all of you,
    • "After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music." - Aldous Huxley
    • "Silence is argument carrout by other means." - Che Guevara.
    • "He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words." - Elbert Hubbard
    • "Absolute silence leads to sadness. It is the image of death." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
    • "After an argument, silence may mean acceptance or the continuation of resistance by other means." - Mason Cooley

    It's My Hair: Products Review

The natural hair movement is a huge deal. There are literally thousands of products being offered to us naturalistas. It is so easy to get confused & frustrated to figure out what works & what's crap. I want to discuss 3 products I've recently tried & how they worked for my hair. First is Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I learned pretty quickly that less is more here. It worked wonders for me. It's thick & provides great coverage. It smells good enough to eat. It gave my hair a more defined look to my curls, which is a great thing. I couldn't be happier with this product. I'm going to try other products by Shea Moisture.

Before I began my natural hair journey, I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching. I read all the popular hair blogs and watched all the youtube videos. I was well informed. One product that was mentioned a lot was Eco Styler's Olive Oil Gel. It seemed to be a stable. It was a product I've avoided. I am not a fan of gel. It has never been a product I've liked. So when I received an email from Sally's that the ESOOG was on sale, I decided to give it a try. The 32 oz is on sale all month for $3.49. That was a price I couldn't pass up. I do not know why I avoided it for so long. I am a fan. It works so well. It does not get hard or flaky which I was afraid of. I love the fragrance of it as well. It's a great product for me to use when I wear my hair in a bun which is usually once or twice a week.

Staying within my olive oil category, I picked up the Olive Oil Moisturizing Sheen Spray. It was on sale as well. It's new to me because I have not used it before. I haven't really used oil sheen in about a year. I dyed my hair recently and needed some shine. This was a good choice. It smells wonderful and gives me the shine that I was looking for. It is also really light. It does not make my hair feel heavy or weighed down. That is always a great thing. These are the three new things I've started to use on my natural hair. My hair is stronger and thicker now. I love that. I'm still learning what works for me and my hair. That is the journey itself. I just want to share my finds with any other natural hair ladies.

Ladies Love Lyrics: Outkast featuring Erykah Badu, Goodie Mob "Liberation"

There are some songs that just stay with you. I still feel the same way about Outkast's "Liberation" now that I did the first time I heard it. I actually remember exactly where I was when I first heard it. I was at the House of Blues on a Thursday night. There was a set called "Soul II Soul" College Nights that happened weekly. It was hosted by Rob Nice and DJ'ed by Raj Smoove and Bigg Cheez. My friends and I were regulars. So much so that the bouncers knew us by name and bartenders knew us by our drinks. Don't judge us! :) It was about 2 am when Raj dropped "Liberation." I remember that I stopped dancing to just listen and feel this track. I was enthralled with it. I had to have this song. I knew it was Outkast, Erykah and Goodie Mob from the jump/ I was a fan from that moment. Raj would drop it again before we left. I purchased Outkast's "Aquemini" the next day. I loved it. But, this was always my favorite track. Everything about it is perfect. The beat is dope, the lyrics are great, and it moved me then. And still does today. So, since this song was stuck in my head, I had to share.

(Andre) "And there's a fine line between love and hate you see
Came way too late, but baby I'm on it..
And there's a fine line between love and hate you see
Came way too late, but baby I'm on it..
Can't worry bout, what a nigga think now see
That's Liberation and baby I want it..
Can't worry bout, what another nigga think
Now that's Liberation and baby I want it..

(Big Boi) (Let me hear it, let me hear it, let me hear those, let me hear those)
How many times I, sit back and contemplate
I'm fresh off the dank, but I'm telling my story..
My relationship, with my folks is give and take
And I done took so much, not giving my glory
Now have a choice to be who you wants to be
It's left uppa to me, and my momma n'em told me (yes she did)
I said I have a choice to be who you wants to be
It's left uppa to me, and my momma n'em told me

    (Cee-Lo) No, no, no
I'm so tired, it's been so long - struggling, hopelessly
    Seven and forty days.. hey
Oh, I sacrifice every breath I breathe
To make you believe, I'd give my life away
Oh lord, I'm so tired, I'm so tired
My feet feel like I walked most of the road on my own
    All on my own, wee..
We alive or we ain't living, that's why I'm giving until it's gone
Cause I don't wanna be alone (I don't wanna be alone)
I don't wanna be alone.. yeah
If there's anything I can say, to help you find your way
Touch your soul, make it whole, the same for you and I..
There's not a minute that goes by that I don't believe
that you die.. but I can feel it in the wind
    The beginning or the end
But people keep your head to the sky

Shake that load off, shake that load off,
Shake that load off, shake that load off

Shake that load off, shake that load off, Shake that load off, shake that load offShake that load off, shake that load off, Shake that load off, shake that load off
Shake that load off, shake that load off, Shake that load off, shake that load off

(Erykah Badu) Folk in your face, you're a superstar
N***as hang around cause of who you are
You get a lot of love cause of what you got
Say they happy for you but they really not
Sell a lot of records and you roll a Benz
Roll up in the spot, now you losing friends
All you wanna do is give the world your heart
but the label tried to make you compromise your art
You make a million dollars, make a million mo'
First class broad treat you like a n***a po'
You wanna say "Wait!" but you're scared to ask
as your world starts spinning and it's moving fast
Try to stay sane, it's the price of fame
Spending your life trying to numb the pain
You shake that load off and sing a song
Liberate the minds, then you go on home..

I Needed To Read This Today

There are a plethora of things I need to learn in life. Number one on that list is learning how to stop worrying. Whether I worry or not, life is going to happen. The only difference is I could be watching it instead of existing in it. That's why these particular pictures caught my heart. Yes, they bypassed my eyes to get to the core of me. I have a very active and healthy imagination. This is the gift and the curse of any creative person. I struggle with this issue internally so much.

I can conjure up so many situations in my head. I know better than this. I know what the saying about worrying and praying is. The two can not coexist. I have to stop torturing myself about what "could possibly" happen. There is no guarantee in life but God. That is my belief. My faith is strong. My mind is getting there. I had a really good afternoon. Some things got put into perspective without a word. I needed to get that. For the first time in weeks, my heart isn't heavy and my head isn't clouded with thoughts. I prayed. End of story.

Just Because I Felt Like It: Little Black Girls, Big Names

Poetry will always have a special place in my heart and life. I fell in love with spoken word during high school. I loved performing while in college. I can honestly say that I've fell out of love with the spoken word movement in recent years. Everyone speaks the same, talks about the same topics. It's become very gimmicky and I was not here for it. But, like everything else I love, it's become relevant again to me. I've found myself very intrigued by the Slam poetry competitions featuring young adults. This was posted in one of my Facebook groups. It touched a place deep within me. This little Black girl at heart has been smiling since I watched this. Get into this piece. It's entitled "To All The Little Black Girls With Big Names" by Sha'Condria, a fellow New Orleans native. Oh and I love the backdrop of her video. My city looking fabulous.

    Movie Review: "Olympus Has Fallen"

Have you seen the trailers for "Olympus Has Fallen" yet? If not, please check it out. I LOVE free things. So, when the passes to see an early screening of the new film "Olympus Has Fallen" landed in my inbox, I was happy. The trailer for this movie was intriguing to me. So, seeing it early and for free was a no brainer.  The premise of the movie is that the White House is taken over by terrorists and the President is taken hostage. What follows is a one man rescue mission. If you are not a fan of guns, violence and gore, then this is not the movie for you. It is essentially an action film. I LOVED every moment of it. The story line is very believable because anything is possible. The movie is very fast paced and action filled. I was loving it.

The theater was packed. I loved hearing the reaction of the audience throughout the movie. The promoters gave out these pins (shown below) which I thought was nice. The pin says OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN. Walking out of the theater, everyone was talking about how much they loved the movie. The action was exciting and the acting was great. I did not move the entire 2 hours. What scares me is that this seems totally possible. It makes me question how safe the White House is and how safe our First Family is. This movie stars Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Dylan McDermott, Angela Bassett, and Cole Hauser to name a few. It premieres March 22, 2013. It is a must see if you like these types of movies.

Get Into It: Daily Horoscope App

I am not a hard core believer in astrology. I don't pick my friends by their signs. I don't live my life according to the stars. I am well aware of my Sagittarius traits. I do know what signs I don't get along with & the ones I will. Since nothing this year has gone according to my plans, I've started taking my daily horoscopes more seriously. It's been enlightening to have a little insight on the disarray that my life has become. I like to take in the information and use it in my pursuit of happiness. That's what it is to me. An avenue to get me to a better place. Any one who has read my blog lately can tell that I'm not myself, not in the best head space. But, I'm working on it. I'm slowly pulling myself out of this sea I've been in. I'm open to whatever works at this point.

I read my horoscope at night. I do this to see if my horoscope was right. It's kinda crazy how on point it's been for the last few weeks. I have this app called "Daily Horoscope" which sends it to me daily. The pictures are from my horoscope this week. Notice the pink/purple hue they are in. I opted for that. Also, you can check your yearly horoscope, Chinese horoscope, compatibility and druid horoscopes. It's also color customizable and you can set a horoscope reminder. I like all the features. I also read the yearly horoscope of another sign. For reasons. And, it made me ubër sad. Only because I believe it will affect me as well. I've been searching for clarity for weeks now. This app gives me a little of that. If you're curious like I was, I suggest getting into the Daily Horoscope app. It's available for Android and iPhone users. It's also $Free.99 which is always a great thing. What sign are you? Let's talk!
