I'm Back!!!

Guess who's back?? It's me :-) In the words of Varnell Hill, "DID YOU MISS ME??" I've missed you guys. I've missed this space. I would just chcek my blog all the time. I didn't think I would miss it so much. It is a prt of me. This break was truly needed. I could not be more prouder of the work I've done here.

I've missed blogging. I needed the time off in September. But, I am ready to get right back into it. I won't promise to post everyday but a few times a week will definetly happen. My mind is very clear about some things, not so much about others. But, I am ready to get back to work. So, hope you guys will be back to read my words  soon.

Also, it's October and it is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It is a cause that has always been dear to me. My family has been affected by it. So, I always like to bring awareness to the cause. I will wear pink unitl there is a cure. Donate to a BCA fund, participate in a BCA walk, just do something. We need a cure.

On a much sadder note, there has been another case of being murdered for simply being Black. Jonathan Ferrell was a former FAMU football player. He was in a horrific car accident that he survived. He knocked on doors to get help. One woman thought he was trying to break into her house so she called the cops. The cop who showed up fired 12 shots at Ferrell. Ten of those shots hit Ferrell. Jonathan Ferrell died on September 16th at the age of 24. Why? Why is this young man dead? No one can explain it to me. No one can make me believe that the cop was anything other than overzealous, trigger happy and a racist. He saw a Black man and unloaded his clip. Jonathan Ferrell deserves justice. What he deserves even more is to have the cops protect and serve everyone and not just white people and he deserves to still be alive. God help us all.

On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink!

"On Wednesdays, we wear pink!" - Mean Girls

It's October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I've been a champion of this cause for at least a decade. It has effected my family in major and minor words. I've written about the cause before here and here. There are two great organizations that are fighting the good fight. They are Save The TaTas and Susan G. Komen. Both are worthy foundations. If you can, donate to both or either. Every little bit helps. It is up to us to find the cure. This is a cause that I will always stand behind. Wear pink to show your support. One of the funniest slogans I've ever seen for this cause is "Save a life, Grope your wife!!" That's hilarious to me. We should all be aware of this cause all year round. But, in October, it's more visible. Give yourself breast exams monthly. Make sure that all is well with you and your breasts. And, it's Wednesday, go ahead and wear pink for the cure!

"I have been giving myself breast exams since I was about 14. The disease has ravaged my family. The women in my family have mostly survived. At the age of 24, I found what I though was a mass in my right breast. I was beyond scared. I was also experiencing these sharp shooting pains in my breast. My doctor examined me and thought that it was only mass tissue. He sent me in for my first mammogram to make sure. It was one of the scariest experiences of my life. I was so glad that my Mom was with me. I have never prayed so much in my life. I, of course, thought of all the ways it could go wrong for me. I was only 24. I was too young. It hurt like hell and I think it is a horrible experience. I received my results that day. I was fine. there was nothing there. I was so relieved. I thanked God right there in the waiting room. Cancer scares me more than anything." - Kenda

I Will Wear Pink Until There's A Cure!

"I wear PINK for both of my Grandmother's who are survivors." These pictures are catchy and funny. But, the cause they stand for is serious. It is a cause dear to me. I just wish someone could find a cure for it. Cancer is a horrible disease. Women are dying too young and too frequently from breast cancer. We all need to do what we can to help aid in the cure. We are heading towards the end of Breast cancer Awareness month. So I just wanted to reiterate how important the cause and the cure are to all of us. I wear PINK for all the women who have survived and all those who have perished. I will continue to wear pink until there is a cure. You should too!! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We all need to be more aware of things.

Save The Ta-tas

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a cause that is dear to me. Both of my Grandmothers are Breast Cancer survivors. This is a disease that needs a cure like yesterday. Cancer is a horrible disease. I am not sure how I stumbled upon Save The Ta-tas.com. But, I am so glad that I did. I love their message and motto. This is another way to support a very serious cause. This new foundation Save The Ta-tas. I love their message. It is cute and catchy. I like the idea of supporting another breast cancer foundation. "Save the Ta-tas Foundation is committed to fighting cancer at every stage—including education, prevention, research, community outreach, and emotional support for those struggling with the disease. Our first year goal is to donate no less than .90 cents per dollar to support new gene research through a partnership with The Concern Foundation. Innovative and new, our organization is determined, like its founder ta-tas® Brand Clothing, to end this devastating disease, with a smile of course! Laughter heals, save the ta-tas!"

I purchased this Save The Ta-Tas shirt 2 years ago. I do what I can to support the cause. It is important to me. There is a plethora of merchandise available on the site. The prices are decent to say it is to support such a great cause. It is important that women give themselves exams. Also, for women over 40, it is important that they get regular mammograms. I am not looking forward to that process. Seriously, that machine hurts!! I think that with all the technology that a new gentler machine could be invented. I do not think that breasts were meant to be smashed flat!! That is not a good look. Support the cause. Get into saving the ta-tas!!
