Get Into It: Free!!

I have a decent online prescence. You can find me here on my blog, on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Pinterest amongst other social sites. I am a social person. And, now I've found a way to be rewarded for this. It is a program called Influenster. Ironically, I discovered the site via Twitter. I was intrigued by the name. So, I had to check it out. I was blown away by the simplicity of it. The way I could use what I was already doing via social media to my advantage. I love getting free things. I mean, who doesn't?

What Is Influenster? -- Influenster is a free-to-join community of invited trendsetters who live to give opinions of products and experiences. Influenster creates links between brands and members to reward participation and influence future products.

I went to the site to check it out. I read the About section to answer all of my questions. Anything that involves me getting free things works for me. I joined and received my first Vox Box on Christmas Eve. I am loving all of the goodies that were inside. My Holiday Vox Box included:

  • NYC Liquid Lipshine in Nude York City which I truly loved. The color is perfect for me. It has great coverage and shine. It lasts a long time and doesn't get sticky. I've already picked up another one.
  • EBoost Natural Energy packet in Pink Lemonade is a great tasting treat. And, it works wonders. I felt a surge of energy after drinking it.
  • A Montagne Jennesse Deep Cleansing Clean Up Mud Mask. This smelled so good. My face felt so refreshed after using this. I wish the sample was bigger.
  • Kiss Nail strips in black and gold are my new favorite thing ever. They're essentiallyy stickers for your nails and toes. Fast way to change your nails. They stick really well and they last a long time.
  • Cherry Pistachio Oatmeal sample was not good to me. I just didn't like it.
  • Goody hairbrush is awesome. Especially when doing a blow out on damp hair. Great product.

All things a girly girl like me can indulge in. I am in LOVE with the liquid lipshine. The color works with my skin tone and it lasts. I cannot wait to see what is in the next Vox Box. Request an Influenster invite today. Influenster is a great program that you all should get into.

(Disclaimer: "I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.")

Things I Like: You Heard That New.com

The power of Twitter is awesome. It connects us to people all over the world. It is very easy to find like minded people through your tweets. I don't really remember how I call across this one guy. But, I am so glad I did. He goes by the name of LowKey. You can catch him on Twitter. Aside from being hella cool via his tweets, he is deep into music. And, we all know how much I LOVE my music. His website is YouHeardThatNew.com and he features new tracks way before you would catch them on the radio. Well, for those of you who listen to the radio. I do not. I like to cater to my own ear and popular/hot radio stations do not do it for me. The reason I love his site is because it's never full of mainstream hot tracks. It's always something or someone I haven't discovered yet. That is always a plus.

Also, the one other thing I really enjoy about the website is the tone. LowKey's personality comes through in his post. He has a series called "Dear Reader, Let's Talk" where he just talks about certain every day things. It's pretty dope that he breaks up the music by inserting his thoughts in. If you are always on the lookout for new music, You Heard That New is the website for you. I can honestly say that I visit it almost daily. Some of my favorite new tracks have been discovered here. As well as new and old artists. This website isn't about politics, its just about the music. It's great to find a spot that there is no one else pulling the strings. I truly feel that LowKey just posts what he feels is dope. I can totally get behind this. You guys should definitely check it out. Get Into It: You Heard That New.

The Scenario: Dating Websites

Here's the scenario. An engaged man has an open and active page on a popular dating website. He's been in a relationship with the woman for over 5 years . They also have a kid. They are recently engaged. Oh and this man makes no mention of his child on this site either. You know the couple involved. Do you tell the fiancee what you know? Also, is this behavior appropriate?

In my opinion, the behavior is highly suspect. I would not approve of my spouse being on a dating website. I would wonder why he feels the need to still have one. It would seem as though he has something to hide. It's creepy and pervy to have this alternative life going on. If this man loves me enough to ask me to marry him, I would think he would not need anyone else. If we are engaged, then he should not be fishing for dates on a website. Who does that?

This topic was brought up in a group I'm in. The reaction was mixed. But, there was a strong divide between the men and the women on the subject. It just shows me that men and women perceive things differently. All the men saw nothing particularly wrong with it. But, they were not having it if it was their fiancee on the site. Women were categorically against it. We were all up in arms about the seediness of it. It just rubbed me the wrong way. What do you guys think? Let's discuss.

Get Into It: Goodreads

Reading is one of my absolute favorite past times. It is one of my things. So, imagine my surprise to find a website that feeds that need for me. Goodreads is described as a social cataloging website for all the books you've read and want to read. You can join virtual book clubs or connect with friends over the books that they've read. I have my Goodreads page connected to my Facebook page. This was a plus for me. It connects me with friends and classmates who I know are serious readers. They have given me great reviews on some books. This is a plus for me. This site is basically genius. It's all of my favorite authors and books in the same place. It is a virtual library listing.

I absolutely love this site. I was able to set up a goal for myself. I want to read 100 books this year. This site helps keep me on track. I can review books that I've read and read other reviews. This has been very helpful when I am looking for new books to read. I like to share my opinions on the great books I've read and the really awful ones. It may be the literature nerd in me but this site is a little taste of heaven. Good reads also makes a bunch of recommendations for new books to read based on my books. The site is so informative for a reader. I have a list of about 35 books that I have to read soon. Most I never would've known about without seeing them in my recommendations list. If you're a reader, this is the place for you. Get into Goodreads.
