It was the day of reckoning for the ex mayor of New Orleans, C. Ray Nagin. After being found guilty of 20 out of 21 counts, prison time was unavoidable. The charges ran from corruption to bribery to illegal dealings while in office. The judge sentences Nagin to 120 months. This sentence was extremely light. I am slightly outraged at this slap on the hand for a corrupt, pompous politician. Nagin was an arrogant sob during his trial. He was offered a plea deal that he turned down. It was for less than the ten he received. Nagin was looking at getting at least 20 years. Why the judge decided to low ball Nagin's sentencing is unknown. But, Matthew Coman the federal prosecutor said he would be pursuing an appeal because he objected to the judge's reduction from what the government suggested. This has been a remarkable fall from grace from a man who was heralded as a savior during hurricane Katrina. To know that he took advantage of his position for money and power makes me sick. I say good riddance to bad grass, Mr. Chocolate City. Maybe he'll learn his lesson while thinking in jail.

Get Into It: "Hemlock Grove" & "Luther"
I have been spending a lot of time discovering new things via Netflix. Blame the fact that it's the summer and there is little to no new original programming. Either way, it's a win for me. I am watching things I never would have before. First up is the original show from Netflix entitled "Hemlock's Grove." This show is about the supernatural. There are werewolves and vampires. It's a very interesting show. I watched the first season recently. I finished it just in time for season 2, which premieres Friday. The characters are weird and dark and not necessarily good but I like them all. I must warn you that the show is very gory and there is a lot of blood. But, if you can get passed that, you will enjoy it. It's different than other vampire/werewolf movies/shows that I've seen before. I really enjoy the different spin on it. Get into it.
The second show I discovered is the BBC's "Luther" which stars Idris Elba. I am a total fan of Idris. I've heard about this show for years. But, I never had the BBC to watch it. Along comes Netflix to solve this issue. "Luther" is a cop thriller show centered on the main character John Luther. Luther is a British cop with more than one issue. But, he's a great cop. This show is darker and grimier than other cop shows I watch. I like that about it. The bad thing is that there are only 3 seasons and 14 episodes. The good news is that every episode is full of twists and turns and drama. I loved seeing Idris in this role. He is not playing the lovable bad guy or the heartthrob. He is playing a character that you can easily love or hate, possibly multiple times in one episode. I read that there is a "Luther" movie in the works as well. I would love to see what John Luther does next. This is just a great show that should've been around longer. If you do not have a Netflix account, I don't know what to tell you. Get into it asaptually!!

Get Into It: The-Dream's "Royalty"
The-Dream can do no wrong when it comes to music in my book. He's a dope producer and writer. He's a pretty good singer as well. So, when I read that he was dropping a new project today, I was stoked. He posted this pic on Instagram and simply captioned it "777." He was putting us all on notice that "Royalty" was dropping on July 7th @ 7pm. I could not wait to hear it. I loved his last two projects: "1977" & "IV Play." Both still get much play over here. Good music will never be denied.
The-Dream did not disappoint me at all. There are only 7 songs but that's all he needed to get it right. Every track makes me feel some kinda way. I've listened to it twice all the way through. I keep returning to two songs. They are "Outkast" and "Wedding Bells." You guys know that I love lyrics and these two tracks speak to me. I love every song though. Great EP from an artist I have always dug. Go ahead and get into it. You can download it here. LEt me know what song(s) speak to you. Leave it in the comments, people.

Around These E-Streets (XIII)
- White women being included in the natural hair movement is wrong. Period. Jamilah Lemieux of Ebony agrees with me.
- Mylah has released another banger. Listen to "All On Me" now. Get into her.
- Zendaya has dropped out of the Lifetime biopic. She is reportedly being replaced by Erika Perry. I have no clue who Perry is. Or even if this movie will truly ever get made.
- Another day, another video of a cop beating an unarmed person. This time the victim was a Black woman. I have no words. You can read about it here.
- Levar Burton started a "Reading Rainbow" kickstarter. He initially wanted to raise $1 million dollars to bring the program back. He raised that amount in a day. The kickstarter raised $5.4 million plus a $1 million from Seth MacFarlane of "Family Guy" fame. Read all about it here.
- Wanna learn how to be a woman? There's an article for that. Read it here.
- You know how White folks LOVE to claim they discovered something that already existed years before they ever knew of it? Like America, rock n roll, twerking, etc. There is a term for it now: "columbus-ing."
- Someone not so bright thought that giving Robin Thicke control of the VH1 twitter handle to answer questions via the #AskThicke was a good idea. They were so wrong. It ended up being a PR nightmare. Get into it.
- Sometimes there are gems in the rants of Kanye West. Granted, I don't want to hear those rants in the middle of a concert. But, nonetheless, Ye had something to say at the #WirelessFestival. The last paragraph is the best. Read it.
- Samsung's newest phone has sprung a leak. It's the Galaxy F, a high end upgrade of the Galaxy S series. It looks amazing and I want it.
- The Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision is just wrong. It's a slippery slope that will lead to nowhere good in my opinion.
- Family drama? We've all been there. Here's a guide to navigating it.

Rant: Away
“I am homesick for a place I am not sure even exists. One where my heart is full. My body loved. And my soul understood.”
— Melissa Cox
Restless. That's the only word to describe what I'm feeling. I am longing for a place that I'm not even sure really exists. I feel the intense desire to just go. Somewhere new, somewhere different. A place where no one knows my name or my story. A place where I can build a new life and a future for myself. I feel stuck here in this place that raised me. Or maybe a better way to say it is that I feel like my life is on pause while the rest of the world is playing right around me. It's as if I am waiting for something that may never happen. And, quite frankly, I am tired of it. Tired of not living my life to its fullest, tired of being a hermit and anti-social, tired of not being fulfilled in all areas. I hear the below Norah Jones song and it inspired this blog. These are just my thoughts about the randomness of my life. Forgive me, I'm restless. Get into this throwback video and just vibe with me.

Ladies Love Lyrics: Sam Smith "Stay With Me"
I love new music almost as much as I love new shoes. And, if you know me then you know that's saying a lot. I discovered Sam Smith via Twitter and Tumblr. His song "Stay With Me" is the first one I heard. I was instantly drawn into it. I liked it. There is also a live version duet with Mary J. Blige. There is something I really love about his voice. I've only heard two other songs by him so far. I think he may be around for a minute. Do yourself a favor and get into this song and its lyrics. Enjoy!
"Why am I so emotional?
No, it's not a good look, gain some self-control
And deep down I know this never works
But you can lay with me so it doesn't hurt
Oh, won't you stay with me?'Cause you're all I needThis ain't love, it's clear to see
But darling, stay with me..."

These Are Just My July Thoughts
- It's July. Already. Half of the year of 2014 is gone. It flew by. I don't know how I feel about that. The days seem to be passing faster than I can keep up. Either way, it's half over. I'll be 35 before the year ends. *le sigh*
- This Supreme Court ruling on Hobby Lobby is one of the dumbest things ever. It's as if the justices value corporations more than women. That war on women that the Republicans keep denying is REAL. Pay attention. This is the beginning of a very slippery slope. I'm disgusted.
- The BET Awards were good. I do think they ran way too long at almost 4 hours. Loved the throwback R&B group performances from Silk, Troop & Color Me Badd. Chris Rock was cool as a host. I enjoyed most of it.
- I am a pessimistic optimist. This means that I see things as they are. My sarcastic nature does not allow me to be too optimistic. I cannot allow myself to get too caught up on the "what if's" cause I've been burned by that life too often. I just want the future and life that belongs to me. Whatever it is. I pray that it's good because I think I truly deserve it.
- I pray a lot. Little prayers that silently take me through my day. They are usually done without me really thinking a lot about it. I know what I want to pray for and do it. I pray for my family and friends. Some are specific and others are broadly general. I cover the spectrum with them. It's a habit I hope to never break. I don't know when or where or why this started but it's a keeper in my book.
- I promised myself that I would blog every day this month. I am out of practice so this will be tough. I pray that I can stick to it. *fingers crossed*
- There is a quote about learning the right distance between people. I am currently fighting this battle of leaning to close or pulling too far back. I'm really conflicted in this one area. The rules have changed and we're no longer the same. Yo no se'.
- So, when exactly is season three of Netflix's "House of Cards" returning?!? Cause I need it now. I guess I could rewatch seasons 1 and 2. It's not the same but it'll have to do. I need my HOC and Underwoods fix.
- If you did not peep this yesterday, you should def do so. VH1 decided to give Robin Thicke free reign of their Twitter for a Q&A session entitled #AskThicke. The questions were hilarious. He was dragged all through the tweets. You will laugh your ass off truly. Get into it.
- How is it possible to miss something you almost had? Like, there were plans made that didn't come to be but I miss what was supposed to occur. I miss the life I was supposed to have. It's kinda depressing to be honest. I find myself longing for that version of my life because it's better than my reality. That is a bad habit I desperately need to break. But, it;s so hard to let go. I have issues. Don't mind me. I'm venting here.

Get Into It: "Think Like A Man Too" Soundtrack
In my book, Mary J. Blige can do no wrong. When Mary sings it, you believe it. I have been a fan since the beginning. So, you can only imagine my excitement when I learned that the soundtrack to "Think Like A Man Too" was essentially a Mary album. From beginning to end, Mary was perfection to my ears. The song I instantly clicked repeat on was "Wonderful." I love the beat and the lyrics and the message. Mary sounds like her old self on it. This soundtrack gets my money simply for Will Packer having the balls to pull a move like this. It seems that he is as much of a Mary fan as I am. Every track is my favorite honestly. Every track evokes a different emotion from me. I listen to it daily. It has an old school R&B/Hip-Hop feel to it. And, that is right up my alley. I love it. This soundtrack, just like the movie, is worth the $$$. Get into it!

Movie Review: "Think Like A Man Too" & "Transformers: Age of Extinction"
There is a new theater that just opened not far from my house. I received some free passes as well as 2 for 1 passes. This means my movie watching days are a go. For the last two weekends, I've been at the Grand Theater to see two new movies. First up was "Think Like A Man Too." I loved the first one. The cast was incredible and had great chemistry. This was also the case in the sequel. It's not very often that a sequel is better than the original. This is one of those very unique cases. I loved TLAMT more than the original. I laughed the entire time. Kevin Hart was ridiculous as usual. I loved the plot of the movie. It is a must see in my opinion. I cannot wait to see it again. Great romantic comedy .
The second movie was "Transformers: Age of Extinction." Now, let me preface this by saying that I am a super fan of the previous films. Loved all of them. I wasn't too happy when I learned that the the series was being rebooted. No Shia, no silly parents, no Tyrese. I do like Mark Wahlberg so I was open to it. The movie was good but not great. The plot was interesting. The action scenes were amazing. The actress who plays Mark's daughter is gorgeous but her acting skills left much to be desired. I was just expecting more from the movie. I mean Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg were involved in it. Something was just off with it. I don't know exactly what it was though. I'm glad that I saw it though. Loved the Autobots as usual. Good movie. I think a person who isn't a diehard fan of the first three would love it more. Either way, I would recommend both movies to all. Get into these new releases. Happy movie watching!!

Influenster: Herbal Essences Naked Vox Box
I was so ready for my new Influenster Vox Box to arrive. I love anything that has to do with hair. Herbal Essences has a new product line. It is called "Naked." My Vox Box included a full size Dry Shampoo, two trial size bottles of volume shampoo and conditioner. The "Naked" line does not have any parabens or dyes. So, it is naturally and organically a better product for my chemical free hair. The packaging is nice, clean and simple. The colors are white, blue and green. So of the bottles are clear which I really like. It is aesthetically appealing to me. I love the smell. It has to smell good if its going to be in my hair. The Herbal Essences website states that the products are "infused with white grapefruit and mint extracts."
What I loved most about my experience with the "Naked" line is the feel. My hair felt good from beginning to end. I used the dry shampoo on a Monday night. It was easy to use. It did not flake up which is a problem I've had in the past with other dry shampoos. It made my hair look and feel as if I had just washed it with water. It extended my wash day by almost a full week. The shampoo and conditioner both are great products as well. The shampoo lathered really good, it smelled amazing and it covered every strain of hair. The conditioner was the same. After drying my hair, I was more than pleased with the outcome. So, this new Herbal Essences "Naked" line is a keeper for me. I will be purchasing full size of all. I really liked it and would recommend it to all those I know. Get into it!
Disclaimer: "I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes."

Transitions
My life is in transition. Transitioning into what? I'm not entirely sure. There was a time when I knew what I wanted and who I wanted to become. But, things have changed drastically. There are moments when I actually have no clue as to what's going on. There are days when I don't feel pretty or smart or together or focused. And, these are things I cannot lean on others for. Yes, accolades and compliments are great. But, if I don't believe them then they don't mean as much. My life has been spiraling for some time now. I have no destination and that scares the hell out of me. My reaction to a certain situation has caused me to cut people out. I am not as open with my friends as I used to be. I'm not as available either. I know this isn't the right course of action but it's the only way I know to protect all I hold dear. If I don't let anyone in, then no one can hurt me. This makes me a little colder I know. But, it's a practice that I've adapted.
I can no longer hold onto the woman I was because, sadly, she no longer exists. But, I am apprehensive about the woman I am becoming because I do not know her yet. What my future holds? I really do not know. I want a few things that I have no clue how to achieve them but I will. I really thought I wanted to write but I've changed my mind about that. I've spent too much time feeling adrift in the last year and a half. I honestly don't have the luxury of time on my side. I will be 35 soon. It's the age I just knew I would have it all together. You know the marriage, the kids, the house and the career. I am so far removed from that ideal. I almost feel like this is my mid life crisis. I used to have the answers and I swear I do not anymore. I know that I'm not supposed to have it all figured out but I'd feel more secure if I knew more. Or if the answers were simpler. Transitioning is a must in life. It's just my season. A season of uncertainty and restructuring. Fingers crossed and prayers sent up that I end up exactly where I am supposed to be: in the middle of my own future. A future I can be proud of and exist happily in. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Lyfe Must Be Nice
It was the summer of 2005, I had not heard about Lyfe Jennings. Until my aunt/big sister introduced me to his new song “Must Be Nice.” I am one of those anti-radio folks so I was missing out. But, from first listen, I was hooked. When “268-192” (his debut cd) came out, I had to get it. I fell more in love with this man with the unique voice and real life lyrics. I played this cd OUT that summer. I made all of my friends fans by default. If you were around/with me, you were hearing this cd. In early August, he came here for his first concert @ the HOB. We were there…early. He gave an incredible show. We also got to meet him after his meet and greet. He just hung out with us for like 20 minutes talking. I told him that I loved the show but he didn’t sing my song. He asked whatsong? I said “Cry.” He replied “Well, I’ll make sure I sing it tomorrow night and I’ll put you guys on the list so you can hear it.” Good dude. He signed autographs and took pics. But, thanks to that heffa Katrina, I lost all of that.
Fast forward to almost ten years later, same venue, same performer. We were here to see our guy. He did not disappoint. His stage show is better, more polished. That voice is still amazing. Lyfe had the entire place going crazy as he went through his hits and the sleepers that only true fans would know. And, we all did. He was so engaging. He kept saying that this felt like a family reunion and that he loved New Orleans. And he was just as cool off stage. It was a really great ending to a crappy day. So glad I didn’t let me day determine my mood for the night. If you’ve never seen him live, do yourself a favor and catch a show. You will not be disappointed.

Ladies Love Lyrics: Lyfe Jennings "It Coulda Been Worse"
Thursday night I attended the Lyfe Jennings concert at the House of Blues. I am a fan of this guy. Have been since the summer of 2005. He performed "It Coulda Been Worse" as his final song. And, sometimes you finally get the lyrics of a song. This happened to me. I needed to hear that things could be worse. I needed to know that I can be down and not out. I dropped a few tears right there. This song moved me seriously. So, I wanted to share it with others. One of you may need to hear this as well. Get into these lyrics.
"I was going through some changes in my life.Cussing and complaining every night.Telling God the way he treating me ain't right, and how I don't deserve it.A voice from somewhere came to me and said you got the audacity to fix your mouth to disrespect, how soon we forget.
And he said remember when you were sick and you got better, remember I put your family back together, remember I could have cut you off forever. So no matter how bad you think it hurts.
It could've been worse, you could've been dead. You could've been paralyzed, confined to a bed.You could've lost everything, you should've lost everything. But somebody's watching you, and gave you another chance."

“Too Black or Not Black Enough?”
Her: “Why do you talk like that?”Me: “Like what?”Her: “Like a White girl.”
I was confused the first time I was asked this. I didn’t know any other way to talk. This was my voice. These were my words. I knew that White people looked different than the people in my family and neighborhood. Other than that, I did not know any more. I was a Brown girl in a Brown world until I started school. My parents gave me Black dolls to instill a sense of acceptance of who I was. Even then, I loved my brown skin. My Dad, who was Creole, would always say that “his brown girl was so pretty.” I never knew that my brown skin would be an issue for others.
I was in the 2nd grade when I realized I was different. I didn’t think like them or act like them. Just different. I was moved to Honors classes where I usually found myself the only Black person in the class. The White kids made me feel unwanted. I remember being told “you aren’t smart enough to be in this class” during the first week. My test score were high. That shut some of them up but not all. They did not feel that a Black person belonged in this elite class. They let me know that I wasn’t welcomed, wasn’t one of them. I was ostracized in those classes. It just pushed me to work harder. And, I did.
I lived in two different worlds. At school, I was an island surrounded by white people in class. The only time I felt like myself was during lunch when I was with all of my friends. There was issues there too. Other Black kids in school and in my neighborhood picked on me as well. I was called “White girl” more times than I can count. One insult always hurled my way was that “I was talking White” or “trying to be White.” Neither was true. I was being my most authentic self. I talked proper because my Mother did not stand for slang. I was known to read the dictionary because I loved words so much since I started reading at 3. I was the odd girl out because I liked school. I was the girl sitting on her porch reading a book. Kids called me a nerd because “I was acting White.” Education was very important to my Mother. Failing wasn’t an option. Between the things she planted in me and shows like “The Cosby Show” and “A Different World,” higher education was not a dream but my reality.
Did their words hurt me? Yes. But, I was lucky to have a Mom who taught me that a person’s words mean more about them than they do to me. She always said “You are destined for more than this street and this neighborhood. And, your education will get you there.” I lived by those words. The White kids who were bothered by my Blackness in “their Honors classes” and the Black kids who thought “I was trying to be White” were all stepping stones for me to excel. I was on a mission. By the time I entered high school, I was excelling in almost all subjects. There were more Black students in my Honors classes at this point. The isolation I once felt dissipated. I was exceeding my own goals in school. I was happy.
Even now, at the age of 34, I still get told that I sound like a “little White girl.” It doesn’t bother me. I don’t sound how I look. I’ve embraced all of me. I sound the way God intended me to sound. All of this is just who I am. I’m a Black woman the color of milk chocolate, skin that’s been kissed by the sun and blessed by the Most High.

Get Into It: Maya Angelou & Dave Chappelle "Iconoclasts"
The Sundance Channel had a series called "Iconoclasts." It pairs two different artists together and they are filmed for a day. This particular interview was filmed in 2006. I just discovered it this week after the passing of Dr. Maya Angelou. It features Maya Angelou and Dave Chappelle in an in-depth conversation. I loved how amazing it was. Maya's voice is one of the most unique ones ever. She speaks with such knowledge and wisdom. This interview also gave me a better insight into Dave Chappelle as well. If you have never seen it, please take the time to do so now. You will enjoy it. Get into it.

Just Because I Felt Like It: Jay Z "Unplugged"
MTV's "Unplugged" series was such a dope show. One of my favorite episodes ever has to be the one with Jay Z. I am a huge fan of his. The only better than his music is seeing it backed with a live band. There was not one misstep on this show. I loved it when it aired live. I have seen it more than 10 times. And, I own the Unplugged album. It's Friday and we all deserve some good music in our ears. If you've never seen this, I am shocked. You should go ahead and get into it. Enjoy Shawn Corey!

It's My Hair: Product Review Cantu Coconut
I am very biased when it comes to Cantu products. So, it was a no brainer to try out some of their new products. They were on sale at Walgreen's as a part of their Buy One Get One sale. So, I grabbed the Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream and the Shea Butter Coconut Milk Shine and Hold Mist. I shampooed my hair with my Obia Natural Hair Coconut & Shea Shampoo Bar. I dried my hair with a tee shirt. I used a little Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave In. Then I used the Cantu Coconut Curling Cream before starting my braids. After my hair was braided, I sprayed it with the Shea Butter Coconut Milk Shine and Hold Mist before sitting under the hooded dryer for a 1/2 hour. I put on my silk head scarf and went to sleep.
My first impression of the products were great. The smell was amazing. Which is weird for me because I dislike coconuts. But, apparently, I love the way it smells in this line of products. The next morning, I put some of my own oil mix on my fingers and unbraided my hair. I could tell after only doing one that the results would be amazing. I was right. The products worked well in my hair. I loved the way my hair felt. It was soft and moist. I loved it. I was impressed with the outcome. I also got so many compliments on my hair last weekend. Needles to say, these two products have been added to my natural hair care regimen. Cantu wins again. I would recommend this to all my fellow naturalistas. Get into it and my hair in the pictures below.

Rest In Paradise, Dr. Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou lived an incredible life. She departed this Earth today at 86 years old. I know we are all mourning this loss. But, in actuality, we should be celebrated the well lived life of an amazing woman. I was a kid the first time I was introduced to the work of Dr. Angelou. From my first reading of "Still I Rise," "Phenomenal Woman," and "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings," I was changed. Her words enlightened me. Over the years, I became a fan. Her voice is so distinctive. There aren't enough words to fully express how important Maya Angelou has been on the literary world. She was one of my early influences when I began writing poetry. Her words made me want to write more. She will be missed dearly. Her legacy will live on for centuries. A writer truly never dies because they leave their work here for us. Rest in paradise, Ms. Angelou. Phenomenal Woman
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me."

May I Proceed?
- I had the best time this weekend in Atlanta for my mini-vacay. My family came together to celebrate my baby sister's high school graduation. I am so tired but I needed that getaway.
- This weekend reinforces the fact that I really need to stop being so anti-social. There is no reason that I should be stuck in the house all the time. I've let life happen around for over a year. I'm sick of it. I don't have a desire to be in the club every weekend. But, there has to be more to life than this. And, I'm going to get it.
- Also, I am now thinking about moving to Atlanta. I need a major life change. The life I thought was destined to belong to me doesn't exist anymore. It is time for me to find out exactly what that is. I do not think it's here for me.
- I am being a bum today. My feet are swollen for some strange reasons.I'm thankful that they don't hurt but this swollenness is kinda freaking me out a bit. I cannot go anywhere because of this. So, I am currently on the sick and shut in list. Pray for me, people.
- I also have a angry and unexplainable ugly bruise on the inside of my right thigh. I don't remember how I got it or where. My sister is a great bartender and I am attributing this war wound to her mixology skills this weekend.
- I want food. That requires two things I am not willing to do: putting on clothes and leaving the house. I am unable to do either.
- As tiring as my weekend was, I cannot sleep. And, I am ok with that. Tonight's sleep will be glorious.
- This whole Donald Sterling/NBA stuff is crazy. I am anxious to see exactly how it's going to play out. I've heard some ramblings of extreme measures being taken. I def think I'm gonna like Adam Silver more than David Stern. He is not playing. OAN, the playoffs have been very good this season. Really wanna see a Heat/OKC finals matchup. I would not be interested in a Finals that includes the Spurs. Yes, they are a great team. They are also the most boring team in the league. They put me to sleep.
- In general, if I feel like I need to fall back from you, I do it instantly. I don't like to put myself in a position to get my feelings hurt. I am also not in the market for any situation that's going to end badly for me. Falling back is a defense mechanism. I have perfected it.
- Happy Memorial Day! I am thankful and grateful for all those who are currently serving, have served and those who have given their lives while serving. They are all a blessing to each of us and our sense of freedom. Thank an armed services member today! Happy Monday people!!

Ladies Love Lyrics: Mary Mary "Go Get It"
Some days a song just speaks to you. I discovered this Mary Mary song via their reality show. I LOVED it instantly. It motivates me every single time I play it. Get into these lyrics.
"It's like you're looking through a telescope you see where you gon be
Growing getting better you're not the person they see
Can't be mad at the things you been through cuz they built yo muscle
Now you're stronger than you've ever been they can't stop yo hustle
Yo Faith ain't never small that's what brought you this far
See you got your dreams and you got your prayers and
you got yo God he gon take you there
See everybody has a season and I believe this one's yours
Cuz you been workin, waitin, this what you been prayin for
[Chorus:]
Go get it, Go Get it, Go get it, Go get it, Go get it
Go get yo blessing
Go get it, Go get it, Go get it, Go get it, Go get it, Go get it
It's yo time, it's yo time, it's yo time, it's yo time
You were made to live a good life and that's what I believe
So hit the floor say a prayer start working you got to do something
It's alright to crawl before you walk it's alright to walk before you run
But if you wanna get what you never got gotta do something that you never done.."

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day!!! Today is a special day. I love my Mom. I love the relationship that we have. She is my best friend. She can make me laugh even when I'd rather not. She always seems to know when I need a hug or a kind word. Even when she is pressuring me about having kids, I still love her. Today, I celebrate her. I celebrate the woman she is and the woman she's raised. My Mom did not have an easy life. But, she sacrificed it all for my brother and I. She worked two jobs throughout my entire high school and college years. She made sure we had everything. She was and still is one of my favorite people. She believes in me when I find it hard to believe in myself. I love that woman more than life. I am so blessed that God chose her for me.
There aren't really enough words to fully explain how much I love my Mom. She is one of my favorite people and best friends. She hates to take pics, which is why I had to search forever for these. She is the silliest, most honest woman I know. I told her today that she was my gift. She loves me unconditionally and that is a gift in itself. I really hope the mothers in the world have a great day today. You are truly appreciated. Happy Mother's Day!!
