Do you play the lottery? The Mega Millions tickets are being bought up like hotcakes. Everyone is clamoring for a piece of that $540 million dollar dream. I am not a gambling chick. I go to casinos for the free drinks and the buffets. I've never been big on throwing away money. That's what the lottery represents to me. The odds are ridiculous when it comes to actually being a big winner. I'm the girl who brings a set amount of money to the casino. I do not like to lose my money. The lottery in all forms feel like a huge swindle to me. I've purchased a bunch of scratch offs over the years. Those are fun. But, again, it's not something I do often. It's easy to get caught up in the winning free money hype. I mean, how could one not? The allure of winning enough money to set one up for life is sometimes to hard to ignore.
Today, on the advise of someone I love, I indulged in a Mega Millions ticket or two. I mean, it is up to $540 million dollars. That is an insane amount of money. I cannot even wrap my mind on that type of money. So, I allowed myself to dream a little. There's no way I could spend that kind of money in my lifetime. On the advise of my financial advisor, I would initially invest 85% of it. I would let it draw interest for me. I would build the house of my dreams. I mean everything I've ever wanted in a home would be in it. My house would be my favorite places to be. I would, of course, take care of my family. I would finally scratch this international travel itch that I've had since I was 13. I would just want to live comfortably for the rest of my days. Be a stay at home Mom to my future kids while writing the books that the world craves. Nothing truly extravagant. No ridiculously expensive cars or over priced clothes. Jewelry would be an investment *wink*
I've seen too many shows about Lottery winners who end up broke. That makes no sense to me. I wouldn't, however, be an open bank for family and friends. I'm sure that's how a good portion of lottery winners go broke. I would want to make sure that my kids are taking care of for life. I wouldn't want them to want for anything ever. Not that I would spoil them...too much. The money would make life easier. But I wouldn't bet my happiness on it. In the words of B.I.G., "more money, more problems." Being able to provide for my family would make me immensely happy though. The Mega Millions lottery is a huge pie in the sky dream. $540 million dollars could buy a lot of dreams. Go head, but a piece of that dream!!
Sometimes I get inspired at the most random times. I don't fight it anymore, I just write. The words started flowing from one single thought. This is just a small piece of poetry. It's a work in progress.
Maybe it's obtainable
It seems within my reach
What I want is that near me
I'm fighting for it
Trying to grab on to it with both hands
It's mine
I can feel it...
One of my favorite people in the world is my aunt Gina. She has been more like a big sister to me than an aunt. I am her oldest niece. So we have been on a journey for the last 31 1/2 years. She is smart and funny and silly. She loves to read like me and sing her own made up songs, much to the chagrin of her daughter and I. This past Saturday, I was in attendance as she achieved her dream. My Aunt graduated from college. She received a Bachelor's in Social Work. She was also Magna Cum Laude of her college. I have watched her fight her way from a life that many said she couldn't recover from. Her history is important because it pushed her into her future. Her story does not define who she has become. I am so proud of her. She never let any one or any thing stop her from achieving this goal. Gina is a success story on so many levels. I love her spirit. Congrats, Gina!!!
"They believed what everyone else thought was impossible." - Trevor "Journey To The Center Of The Earth"
While watching the above quoted movie for the first time tonight, that one line stuck with me. How awesome is it to believe in something wholeheartedly when no one else does? And to also find out your belief is the truth. It's vindication at its best. I think too many people doubt our beliefs because they just cannot see things the way others do.
I'm my biggest fan, my own personal cheerleader. I believe in my own ideas, abilities, and thoughts. I don't get caught up in what others think. I forge ahead when I see my vision clearly. It's awesome when your team fully supports you. It's a great feeling. But, in actuality, I've learned that I don't need it to believe. What I see in my mind may never be viewed by others as enthusiastically as I would. People sometimes need to physically see your plan. That's ok. I love to prove them wrong.
My confidence in myself pushes me to accomplish things. I like to cross the finish line. There are certainly times when I need a helping hand. Now, if someone offers, I will accept. I'm getting much better with asking for help. It's really a foreign concept to me. I fix things. I complete stuff on my own. That's the way I've been for 31 years. But I am changing, evolving, and growing.
Believing in impossible things keeps one sharp and young. In the movie, Max believed that a another world existed inside of our world at the center of the Earth. He didn't stop until he proved his theory to be true. That's perseverance. That takes heart and determination. I will always believe in myself and in impossible things. How else will I figure out how far I can climb? Dream big. Believe in the impossible.
I have the most vividly realistic dreams. I have for as long as I can remember. I don't know anyone else who dreams like I do. It usually takes me a while to get my mind to settle down enough for my body to go to sleep. My dreams are always so grand and of epic proportions.
My dreams are usually to the point. I dream whole scenes. I love that. Those dreams give me deeper insight into things in my life. I am an admitted over-thinker. I believe my dreams are my way of simplifying things. It's just easier to solve things when my mind isn't contemplating 8360 scenarios. Sometimes I'm confused by the details of my dreams. Mostly, I'm pleasantly surprised by them. I love the ones that seem to play out my future. Those are the best ones.
I'm beginning to believe that me being a writer and creative being plays a part in my dreams. In the past, I never shared my dreams with anyone. But that's changed recently. I almost always tell HIM my dreams. He's always amazed by the details of them. I dream a lot. I think that is a really great thing. Some nights I can't wait to make it to my dreams. I never know what will happened or who will show up. Dream a little dream, people.
My dreams today included:
* I want to write a book that people revel in.
* I'm ready to make a huge move. I need to change my physical location soon.
* I want to be a better me.
* I want to travel...island hop.
* I want to get married and have kids.
