Ladies Love Lyrics: Inspirational Music

Some days, I just need to be recentered and refocused. Lately those days have been outweighing the rest. There are two song that helps me get there. I've been playing them a lot. They are both inspirational and uplifting. They tap into a part of me that desperately needs it. Inspiration can come in many forms. This time, it came in music form. My spirituality means the world to me. Without it, I am nothing. I just wanted to share these two tracks with those that may not have heard them before. Enjoy.

"Take me to the King
I don't have much to bring
My heart is torn in pieces
It's my offering
Take me to the King

Truth is I'm tired
Options are few
I'm trying to pray
But where are you?
I'm all churched out
Hurt and abused
I can't fake
What's left to do?

Truth is I'm weak
No strength to fight
No tears to cry
Even if I tried
But still my soul
Refuses to die
One touch will change my life

Take me to the King
I don't have much to bring
My heart's torn in pieces
It's my offering

Lay me at the throne
Leave me there alone
To gaze upon Your glory
And sing to You this song
Please Take Me To The King

Truth is it's time
To stop playing these games
We need a word
For the people's pain

So Lord speak right now
Let it fall like rain
We're desperate
We're chasing after you"

"I know you’re praying for a change
To see a sunny day
Nothing good has come your way for so long
You need someone to understand this place your heart is in
You just want to dream again and believe

Your skies may look dim and grey
But know your breakthrough’s not far away
So hold on
You are too close to give up now
You have so much to live for
Remember what you prayed for
Hold on, please don’t let go in this season
Know that flowers bloom when rain falls
You just hold on
You ask when will this go away
Know that God can feel your pain
Believe He’ll never fall short of His word
Sometimes we forget that He holds us His hands
But I’m reminding you don’t give up"

#30in30: This Reader's Review: Part XI: "The Left Behind Series" (Part II My Spiritual Take)

The Left Behind series stirred up so many emotions in me. I blogged about the books here. Religion has always interested me. It's the one thing I do not believe I will ever get tired of learning about. I've found out so many answers on my quest for Biblical knowledge. The only thing I've truly taken from this series is questioning my faith. From the beginning of Book 1, I've been intrigued by the Rapture. The people who were left behind were a mixed group. There were characters who went to church all the time, who seemed to be devout Christians. The fact that they were left behind told their true stories. Their faith wasn't strong enough, their resolve not deep enough. They weren't really living a Christ filled life. They weren't truly believers. This bothered me. I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. I have confessed with my mouth. I have been baptized. I've spent years in the church. My relationship with God is strong. I believe that he is the Alpha & the Omega, that he created everything that we know. I have no doubt about Jesus or Lucifer. I know what I believe to be the truth and my faith is solid. This series makes me question if that is enough. If my belief is enough.

The series takes the reader on an incredible journey. From disbelieve and confusion to triumph and redemption. There is never a dull moment. Each line, each paragraph builds this world for the reader. It's colorful and dark and good and evil all rolled into a 13 book series. Everything the reader thinks they know about the Bible, this series challenges, confirms and takes to task. It's just that great. To read about the rise of the Anti-Christ was appalling and insane. I cannot believe that some characters in this book still did not believe in God even after living through the Rapture, the Tribulation and the Great Appearing. To still doubt that God is the Alpha & Omega is crazy to me. But, I do realize that as long as there is good there will be Evil.

The authors did an incredible job of creating a storyline that pulls you in. The foundation of this series comes directly from the Bible. The authors did not stray from God's word. They created the situations surrounding the Bible. Every aspect of this series is filled with so much colorful imagery that this story came alive in my head. I saw every word just the way the authors intended. I was so deeply engrossed by this series that I would dream of it. These characters became real to me. There are many times in the series that characters doubt their faith or their walk. I identify with that aspect. I have been there before and I am sure that I will be again. The characters struggled with real life doubts and moments of being unsure. This is the walk that I believe that all believers take.

If you are someone who, like me, is reading the Bible for the first time by yourself, this series is for you. It is a lengthy but quick read. Yes, it's 13 books long but the story is so captivating that reader would lose sight of that quickly. This series had me pulling out my Bible a lot. There are things that I knew before reading this series. There is even more that I did not know until reading this series. I am grateful for the authors for that. It has inspired me to read my Bible more. I think I will start with a nightly reading. The story progresses at the right rate. It's full of Bible scriptures. I was always pulling out my Bible to read more. It's interesting on a spiritual level. If you are searching for answers about what will happen when God comes back for his people, you will find them in this series. I would recommend this to all. It's a must read. It's why I'm sharing it with you. I am that invested in the series. I devoured every page of it.

Hypocrisy in the (Black) Church

You know what I can't stand? All of the hypocrisy and fakeness and fronting that goes on in Black churches. It became to much for me, so I bowed out. It's exhausting to me to deal with all of that when all I want is the word. I don't care about a personal clout in the church. That doesn't impress me much. That isn't why I went to church. I was never there for that. I've been in and out of church all my life. When I got more serious about my walk with God, I realized that I needed more. That was the beginning of a journey for me.

It kills me that some people believe that showing up in church every Sunday will solidly their place in Heaven. How so? What about your actions the rest of the week? I mean, if you're causing hell all week, why would you think that Heaven will be your reward? That is not the way I believe that this works. I find that the biggest hypocrites live in the church. I've seen it with my own eyes in the church I used to attend, with people I know (some in my own family). God does not only see what we do in his house. He watches over us all the time. I think people think they can manipulate God. I don't. We are all supposed to strive to be more Christ-like. I know that I'm not there nor do I claim to be. In the words of a good friend of mine, I am a struggling Christian.

I know my shortcomings. But, I also don't pretend to be holier than others. That is one of my biggest issues with the modern day Black church. It's become a fashion show and a multi-millón dollar business. Somewhere, along the way, the Lord's word & message has gotten lost. It's one of the main reasons I left my church home. I wasn't being fed spiritually. I was empty. So I left in search of more. I took my spiritually into my own hands. I would love to find a church home again. But, I know my standards will make it hard. I need a place that is good for me spiritually.

I know hypocrites are a dime a dozen. I will probably never be free of them. I just would rather they not be in by circle. My spirituality has not been hindered by this. It has actually made me better. This situation has made me more aware. I needed to read and explore the Bible on my own. I need to understand more than a preacher's sermon. And, now I have that for myself. I have a better understanding of the word for myself. That makes me happy. In spite of the reason of why I got here, I'm happy that it has made me better.

My Walk With God

Religion is a hot button topic in any and all circles. There are certain people that I will not discuss religion with. I know what I believe. I know there is a God. I know he watches over me. No one can make me believe otherwise. I'm very grounded in my faith. I talk to God all the time. Those talks and prayers comfort me immensely. I love God with all my heart and I know he loves me more than I can imagine. I've seen his mercy and grace bless my life. Things no man can explain. That is me walking by faith. I believe because I cannot imagine any other way.

I have struggled with the idea of organized religion for years. I have a personal relationship with God. I am a spiritual woman. I do not like the politics involved in churches, specifically Black ones. I have seen too many fake and false chosen people of God. They have left a truly bad taste in my mouth. I do not get how a person could basically play with God and his word. That is crazy to me. I haven't set foot in a church in a really long time. That's truly been bothering me lately. I left my last church home because I was not being fed spiritually nor did I believe in the pastor of the church anymore. So now I'm searching for a place that I feel comfortable and will get extra guidance.

Religion has always been important to me. My Grandmother Frances made sure of that. She took me to church with her every Sunday. I loved that time with her. I loved going to the children's church. I took other challenge of reading the Bible last year. I've slacked of as of late. But I need to get back into it. I'm about halfway through. It's interesting to me how much I remember from church as a kid. I also enjoyed learning new things about the Bible. My spiritual journey thus far has been a very winding road. I've taken it into my own hands while carving my on lane. Religion will always be important to me. I want to know about it all. I want to be able to share it with my (future) kids. I want them to be able to believe in something bigger than all of us. That is important to me. My God is awesome. This journey is far from over. I'm interested in religions other than Christianity. I will also be reading the Koran because I want to know. My spirituality is a big part of me. How about you?

Jesus and bunnies?!?

Today is Easter. The day that Jesus rose from the dead. Three days after he was crucified for our sins. It is Resurrection Sunday. What does that have to do with bunnies, candy & eggs? I've wondered this for years. They don't seem to have anything in common.

After a quick Google search, I found some answers. The introduction of bunnies and eggs came by way of a Stan tradition. Those symbols are linked to a goddess of fertility. Fertility is also linked to the spring. The candy was added later on as the holiday day became more commercialized. Somewhere along the way, the real and true meaning of the resurrection of Jesus became misconstrued.

To me, these things make the holiday very light and fun. And, I guess that is fine for kids. But, along with the fun, we cannot forget that message and meaning of the enormity of what Jesus did for us. He died for our sins. We live because he died and rose again. I'm not a super religious woman. But I am a spiritual being. These are just my thoughts on a day like today. We have to remember all that we won't forget.

My Year In Review: Spirituality

I used to be big on church. That has not been the case lately. I've become disillusioned with organized religion. I deceided to take things into my own hands for a while. This year I've been exploring my spirituality on my own. It has been a rather interesting journey thus far.

I've taken on the task of reading the Bible. I invested in a study Bible that has been a great help. I've been able to garner a deeper understanding of the words and stories in the Bible. I would like to think that reading these words have given me some patience and peace. It's amazing how much I've retained from childhood sermons. I love when I get to a story I know in the Bible. It really touches me.

So far, Matthew and Romans are by far my two favorite books. I've been enthralled by the story aspects of these books. I will not say that I read the Bible everyday. But, I am reading it alot more than I ever have before. Some chapters are more interesting than others. This makes for fast reading for me.

I am completely committed to reading all of it. I'm no where near completing the Bible. And, for the first time when it comes to reading, I'm not on a rush to finish it either. I'm enjoying this process and can't wait to continue it into the new year.
