"This Year, Halloween Fell on a Weekend..."

Happy Trick or Treating!! I have always been a fan of "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." It's been on twice this season & I've watched it. I also DVR'd it. It's so appropriate so I had to share it with you. Also, since Halloween is on a Friday this year, The Geto Boys classic rap track "Mind Playin Tricks" had to provide the soundtrack. "This year Halloween fell on a weekend. Me and Geto Boys are trick or treating..." It's one of my favorite childhood memories and always remind me of Halloween. Hope you guys have fun and be safe. Eat all of the candy and have a happy Halloween!!!

It's Halloween!

Happy Halloween folks!! And, happy "Scandal" Thursday to me. The weather is supposed to get awful tonight. So, my plans include watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" followed by "Grey's Anatomy" and of course "Scandal." Dinner will be wine, baked salmon and glazed carrots. Kettle corn popcorn will be dessert. I have seem some awesome costumes this year.  People are seriously creative. I don't think I could ever pull off anything as elaborate as the ones I've seen. The pic below explains my thoughts about Halloween this year. Happy trick or treating tonight, folks!!

Rant: Trayvon is Not A Joke, Blackface is Not Acceptable

The idiots above are William Feline, Caitlin Cimeno and Greg Cimeno. They are portraying Trayvon MArtin and George Zimmerman. For Halloween and for fun I guess. WHY?!?! Who are you deplorable human beings? I cannot even put into words how pissed I am about this.

NEWSFLASH: THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!! EVER!! Blackface is never culturally or morally appropriate. I do not know why people, especially white people, do not get this. It is offensive on so many levels. I'm offended that anyone thinks that a 17 year old murdered child is funny and ripe to be mocked via a Halloween costume. Who raised you no couth, no morals having folks?!? Where do you even come from? This is sick and disgusting. It is WRONG. There is no other way to spin it or see it. If you find this funny or cute, then something is wrong with you as well. This is what's wrong with the world right now. Folks are clearly insane.

Actress Julianne Hough (above) did not get the memo that this is unacceptable. Why doesn't anyone get that you can portray Black characters like Crazy Eyes of "Orange Is The New Black" without donning Blackface? I cannot even imagine how disheartened Sybrina and Tracy, Trayvon's parents must feel. Isn't it bad enough that their son was murdered, that their dead son was put on trial for his own death basically and that his murderer got away with the crime? When is enough finally going to be enough? White people, get it together. This is not a situation to be mocked or ridiculed. If you are one of the sick ones who decided that Blackface was the way to go for Halloween or any other occasion, DON'T. Reconsider. Find the nearest stadium and have every seat in it. Also, pray because clearly you need Jesus. I just cannot with these people. Ugh.

Oh Halloween!!

Halloween is not my favorite holiday. But, I have learned to appreciate it differently as an adult who has kids in her life. My nieces and nephews LOVE Halloween. They love getting costumes, the trick or treating and the face painting that happens at the parties. I love seeing them so excited about any and everything. So, Halloween is special to me because of them. They love it. That makes me smile about it.

As far as myself, I can take it or leave it. I haven't been into it since at least high school. I think I've finally accepted that I will never feel the same about Halloween. Maybe I should get into the wearing of costumes as an adult. Maybe then I'd feel differently. Wonder if any of my friends are having a Halloween party this year. I usually avoid them. I must stop being so anti-social. I am more than ok with the way I feel about Halloween now. Happy Halloween people!! Enjoy your day!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, people! I am not a huge fan of this holiday. I do not mind the candy or the kids dressing up in costumes, or even the trick-or-treating. I think all of that is cute and fine. I do not like the scary, dark mood of the day. I am not a fan of scary movies or being scared in general. Haunted houses freak me out. People jumping out of the darkness to scream or grab me is not my idea of a good time. I get why some love it. I haven't been to a haunted house in years for that reason alone. I love to see my nieces and nephews in their costumes. And, I always scream when they attempt to scare me. It's cute because they are kids. Halloween is the most fun to me when you are a kid. Halloween costume parties are great for adults. Now that's my idea of fun. Happy Halloween, folks!
